You’ve just stepped off an international flight; crossed thousands of kilometres of ocean and landed in the country of the long white cloud. Welcome to New Zealand and welcome to Auckland Airport.
From the moment you disembark your aircraft at Auckland Airport your kiwi experience has begun. Auckland Airport warmly welcomes you to its brand new international arrivals area which has been designed to capture the essence of what makes us uniquely kiwi.
Whether you are arriving in New Zealand for the first time, or returning home after some travel abroad - haere mai. 
Your welcome mat
As you make your way from the arrival gate to the arrival hall you will pass beneath a magnificent piece of Maori artwork, crafted out of eleven totara logs and gifted to the airport by the Maori Queen. The carving takes the form of a traditional doorway and depicts all the Maori tribes in New Zealand.
The carving marks the entrance to the arrivals area and from this point you will walk along a glass veiled walkway where you can absorb the magnificent views of the Manukau harbour and bustling airport apron.
If you are still a bit weary you can take the conveniently located travelators and soak up the signature New Zealand images on the walls, reflecting the long oceanic journey you have just taken to get here.
PS: Be sure to listen out for the much loved native birds as you walk through this area!
Your shopping experience
Step into the spacious and largest arrivals duty free store in the Asia-Pacific region and pick up some special treats for your friends, family and perhaps even yourself.
It is so easy and convenient to shop on arrival. Make the most of your duty free allowance in this extensive store, stocked with some of the world’s most popular and exclusive brands. The range of brands and products has more than tripled, take your pick from the wide range of liquor, cosmetics, fragrance, electronics, jewellery, fine wine, tobacco, sunglasses, chocolate and much more.
Anyone can shop on arrival, and with such competitive prices and deals it makes perfect sense to make the most of your arrival.
PS: There are only a few countries in the world that offer an arrivals duty free shopping experience and with New Zealand having the world’s most generous liquor duty free allowance the shopping experience is too easy.
Your speedy processing
With your shopping all done you can now progress to the passport control counters. The processing area is located just next to the duty free store so finding your way is easy. Experience faster processing at this stage of your journey, with 12 extra primary line counters taking the total to 44.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Biosecurity x-ray screening positions have increased from eight to 12 alongside the enlarged New Zealand Customs Service ‘secondary’ screening area.
