Carpooling

Auckland Airport offers a carpooling program to all companies at the airport free of charge.

By signing up to carpool, you are:

  • Saving money, because you are spending less on petrol, vehicle maintenance and depreciation; time, because with the extra money you save you can do more things
  • Reducing stress, because you are taking a car off the road and gaining a companion to chat to during your journey
  • Helping conserve our environment, improving quality of air in the city and keeping streets safer

It’s a win-win-win situation!

Priority parking

Auckland Airport has created priority parking spaces in all staff car parks.  Priority parks are closer to terminals and car park exits and are clearly marked in yellow.

Liability

Please note that Auckand Airport assumes no liability for any event stemming from participation in the carpooling program, and that you should check with your car insurance provider before starting to carpool.

Emergency ride home

Sometimes the unexpected occurs, such as a family emergency which affects this method of travel. In the case of such an event, your organisation may offer a Emergency Ride Home (ERH) – for example a voucher for a taxi from the airport to your residence.

Discuss ERH with your employer when you consider car pooling to enlist their support.

Here are some common parameters used to restrict eligibility:

  • Carpoolers must pre-register for the service
  • Commuters must participate in the lift carpool program at least 4 times per month
  • Carpoolers must have a lift parking permit perfore using priority parks.
