Internet access at Auckland Airport International Terminal

Wireless hotspots

Wireless hotspots in the international terminals keep our passengers connected. Our wireless network easily allows you to email, surf the net or access your company's intranet using your handheld device or laptop computers.

Using the internet

If you have a wireless compatible handheld device or laptop you can connect to the internet. Most computers have a built-in WLAN card, but if yours hasn't you can buy one from any computer retail outlet.

Then all you have to do is open your web browser, eg Netscape or Internet Explorer, and follow the on-screen instructions. This service is compatible with both PCs and Apple Macs.

Problems connecting?

If your laptop cannot see ‘Airport_Hotspot’, do the following:

  • ensure your Wi-Fi is enabled and the card is inserted correctly
  • try moving to another area of coverage
  • reboot your computer

Note: The wireless system is case sensitive. You may have capitalized the first letter of your username and password when the account was created. Try re-entering the username and password with a capital letter first.  Once you set up the account you will need to enter the username and password in the textbox's on the wireless homepage

If your laptop can see ‘Airport_Hotspot’, but will not connect, do the following:

  • ensure encryption is disabled
  • DHCP is enabled
  • browser proxy is disabled.

Problems with email

Some of you may be experiencing problems sending email via Outlook when using our Wi-Fi hotspot.

This might be due to ISPs attempting to block spam mail. There is a possible workaround using what is called SSL. If you wish to pursue this you will need to contact your ISP for configuration instructions.
You should  not experience these problems with webmail such as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail.

Who do I call if I need help?

Internet kiosks

Internet access is easy at the airport, using our internet kiosks.  There are internet kiosks located in a variety of places in the public and passenger only areas.  NZ$2 coin buys 10 minutes online and credit cards are also accepted.
