Auckland Airport Community Trust

School childrenEstablished in 2003 as a result of an Environment Court Ruling, the Trust receives a donation from Auckland Airport of $250,000 per annum to be donated to community projects within the aircraft noise contours.

The Trust has, to date, distributed over NZ$2 million to community projects under a theme of 'literacy'.

PCs are now a common site on the playground at Rongomai School – thanks to a grant from the Auckland Airport Community Trust.  It's all part of an innovative programme to raise family literacy levels by giving families new mini-laptops so they can write together with their children.

Great Potentials' Otara HIPPY Programme is another local organisation that has received funding from the Trust annually since 2007.  HIPPY Otara is a home-based programme that trains parents to help their pre-school children with learning.
