Christmas Spirit at the Airport

For the third year running, Auckland Airport has donated $120,000 to 12 different charities in the 12 days leading up to Christmas 2011!

Over 350 charities sent in applications for a slice of this year's Christmas cheer, making it a very difficult decision for the panel of judges who selected the successful charities.

The winning charities received $10,000 each and were announced in the NZ Herald in the 12 days leading up to Christmas.

The successful charities for 2011 were:

Hands of Hope Community Services - Auckland
John Walker Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation – Auckland
New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation – National
Te Whakaruruhau Incorporated – Hamilton
Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust – Auckland
Living Springs Trust – Christchurch
Auckland Search and Rescue - Auckland
Kaipatiki Project - Auckland
Variety – The Children’s Charity – National
Cure Kids – National
Paralympics New Zealand – National
Kidz First Emergency Care – Auckland

The $120,000 was collected through the generosity of the traveling public, donating their unwanted currency into donation globes situated throughout the airport.  To learn more about the charities and what they will use the money for, please go to www.nzherald.co.nz.
