Gold Medal Awards

Aimed at developing healthy young people in the Auckland region through sport and fitness, the Gold Medal Awards provide a total sponsorship fund of $25,000 to successful recipients.

The awards, which have been an annual event since 2010, are open to sports groups, schools and Marae who wish to apply for assistance to support their sport or club goals.

Teams and groups can apply for funding which can be used for purchasing equipment, for coaching or traning equipment or for helping with travel and accomodation costs for sporting events.

The 2011 Gold Medal Award winners will use the funding for everything from purchasing a new waka ama (Polynesian outrigger canoe) to starting a soccer tournament.
