Auckland Airport is committed to managing aircraft noise. Part of that commitment is offering noise reduction packages to qualifying homes.

Every year Auckland Airport offers noise reduction packages to the owners of particular homes located within specific aircraft noise contours. These packages are designed to reduce the impact of aircraft noise and help you can maintain a healthy home while your doors and windows are closed.

Auckland Airport has forecast noise contours for the two years to 30 June 2026.

Homes that were built or granted resource consent after 10 December 2001, or homes that have received a package in the past do not qualify for a package

For eligible homes in the High Aircraft Noise Area, Auckland Airport will pay the full cost of installing the package in your home. The equipment may include the following:

  • Ceiling insulation;
  • A heat pump to provide heating or cooling;
  • A ventilation system to circulate fresh air through the home while windows and doors remain closed;
  • A kitchen extraction fan to remove cooking odours and steam; and
  • Window and door treatment.

For eligible homes in the Moderate Aircraft Noise Area, Auckland Airport will pay 75% of the cost of installing the package in your home. You will need to pay the remaining 25% cost of the noise reduction package prior to installation. The equipment may include the following:

  • A heat pump to provide heating or cooling;
  • A ventilation system to circulate fresh air through the home while windows and doors remain closed; and
  • A kitchen extraction fan to remove cooking odours and steam.
